How to Start a Chapter of Beta Kappa Psi on Your Campus

Are you interested in becoming a brother of Beta Kappa Psi but there is not a chapter on your campus? Outlined below are the minimum requirements for admittance into the fraternity and the necessary steps that will take you from being part of an interest group, to a colony, to an officially recognized chapter of Beta Kappa Psi.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. The interest group must have a minimum of 3 interested gentlemen to begin induction.

  2. The interest group must be comprised of gentlemen with no less than a 2.5/4.0 GPA (not collectively) who are enrolled in school full-time.

  3. A minimum of 2 Interested Gentlemen must be involved in another organization.

  4. Interested gentlemen must be at least a second semester freshman (12 credits completed).  A minimum of 2 of the interested gentlemen must be in their freshman, sophomore or junior years and have a minimum of 30 credits remaining to complete a Bachelors Degree.
Required Steps:
  1. Inform the Office of Student Life of your desire to establish a chapter and obtain a copy of the institution’s expansion policy and any other pertinent documentation.

  2. Contact the National Recruiter at nationalrecruiter@betakappapsi.org and provide your institution’s expansion policy, along with your name, major, year in school, GPA, and contact information for each member of the interest group.

  3. The interest group (aka The Panther Club) is an auxiliary group of organization. This group allows all interested gentlemen to learn more about the fraternity’s mission and its members.

  4. In order for the Panther Club to be recognized, the Panther Club members must conduct certain activities, including a minimum of 3 Community service projects and 2 Fundraisers.

  5. Upon completion of the Interest Group requirements, the group should submit a package by mail to the National Recruiter, consisting of proof of their activities and a letter requesting official recognition as an interest group of Beta Kappa Psi (If any of the activities are not complete, an action plan for completion of these activities must be included).

    • The package must be submitted in a binder and should contain the initial interest application, which will be provided to the interested individuals by the National Recruiter of Beta Kappa Psi.
    • The most recent un-official transcripts and each interested gentleman’s work/school schedule must also be included in the binder.
    • A contact list of all interested gentlemen (Name, Year, GPA, Major and anticipated or actual graduation date) must be submitted.
    • A well-written interest group history from early formation to present.

  6. Once the National Board receives the necessary approval from the institution, the group must mail official transcripts and induction fees to the National Recruiter.

  7. Upon successfully completing the induction process, the new brothers will be permitted to operate on the campus as a colony of Beta Kappa Psi.

  8. Upon completing the requirements as a colony, the brothers will be assigned a Greek letter designation as an official chapter of Beta Kappa Psi.
